How to measure Fork seals
Fork seals are sold by ID × OD × height (mm). Match the seal ID to your fork tube outside diameter.
Fork seals — measure once, order once
Most seals on our shop are listed as ID × OD × height in millimetres (for example 43×54×11). The first number is the seal inside diameter — it must match your fork tube outside diameter.
- Clean the lower fork tube Wipe mud and grit so the caliper sits true. Dusty Gauteng roads love to fake a thick reading.
- Measure fork tube OD Use a digital caliper across the shiny tube (not the chrome lip of the seal). Write the millimetre reading — e.g. 43 mm.
- Read the old seal marking Many seals are stamped ID×OD×height on the metal or rubber face. If the stamp is gone, measure ID (inner), OD (outer), and height (thickness of the seal body).
- Match the shop listing Our FKS-* and Athena P40FORK* titles use that same order. Oil seals and dust seals are different heights — don’t mix them.
Tip: If you only have a phone, photograph the old seal next to a ruler (mm side) and WhatsApp it to 079 231 2573 with your bike make, model and year.
